Smile Education are currently recruiting for an HR Administrator to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Telford. The school provides a supportive and inclusive environment for students aged 11–16 (or 11–18 where applicable) and is committed to promoting staff wellbeing, professional development and high standards across the school community.
This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and detail-oriented individual to support the school’s HR function. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring effective and compliant HR administration within a busy school environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Providing administrative support across all areas of HR
- Managing staff records in line with GDPR and data protection regulations
- Supporting safer recruitment processes, including advert placement, shortlisting coordination and interview arrangements
- Processing pre-employment checks including DBS, references and right-to-work documentation
- Maintaining the Single Central Record in line with safeguarding requirements
- Supporting onboarding and induction processes for new staff
- Assisting with absence monitoring and maintaining accurate staff attendance records
- Preparing HR documentation including contracts, offer letters and variation letters
- Liaising with payroll regarding staffing changes
- Supporting with policy updates and HR compliance
The successful candidate will:
- Have previous administrative experience, ideally within a school or HR setting
- Have a strong understanding of confidentiality and data protection
- Be highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Have strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and school management systems
- Be able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding and safer recruitment
What to expect from applicants? Experience in HR administration or school administration is desirable. Knowledge of safer recruitment practices and maintaining the Single Central Record would be advantageous, though training can be provided for the right candidate.
