School Caretaker

Smile Education is seeking a dependable and experienced School Caretaker to work within a school setting.
Applicants must have prior experience in a school environment and be confident carrying out general site maintenance and basic building repairs.
Role Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the school site, buildings, and outdoor areas
  • Open and secure the premises each day, ensuring site safety throughout
  • Carry out minor repairs and organise contractors for larger maintenance work
  • Oversee and support cleaning staff
  • Complete general porterage and site support duties
  • Act as a key holder for the school
  • Monitor, inspect, and record cleaning and maintenance activity
  • Work closely with the School Business Manager to identify and prioritise repairs
  • Carry out non-specialist maintenance tasks such as basic plumbing and decorating
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Supervise, support, and train site staff
Essential Requirements:
  • Previous experience working in a school setting
  • Practical maintenance experience
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS clearance
  • Professional references
