IT Support TechnicianOldham £100–£130 per day | Full-time | Temp-to-perm opportunitySmile Education are recruiting for an IT Technician to join a successful secondary school in Oldham. This is a full-time role with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
Role OverviewAs an IT Technician, your responsibilities will include providing first-line technical support to staff and students, maintaining IT equipment and networks, troubleshooting hardware, software and access issues, supporting classroom technology, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the school’s IT systems.
Key Responsibilities- Provide first-line technical support to staff and students.
- Install, configure and maintain desktops, laptops, printers and other IT equipment.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software and network issues.
- Support the maintenance of the school’s IT systems and infrastructure.
- Assist with user accounts, password resets and access permissions.
- Support Microsoft 365, Windows systems and common school software.
- Maintain classroom technology and audiovisual equipment where required.
- Keep accurate records of IT assets, repairs and support requests.
- Assist with software installations, updates and system maintenance.
- Report recurring technical issues and support wider IT improvements.
- Follow school policies around IT security, data protection and safeguarding.
Requirements- Previous experience in an IT Technician, IT Support or similar technical role is required.
- Experience working in a school or education setting is desirable but not essential.
- Good knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 is required.
- Understanding of computer hardware, networking and troubleshooting is essential.
- Candidates should have strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- You must be able to communicate clearly with staff, students and colleagues.
- You should be organised, professional and able to manage support requests effectively.
- Relevant IT qualifications are desirable but not essential.
- You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
- You must have the right to work in the UK.
Pay and Benefits- £100–£130 per day, dependent on experience and placement responsibilities.
