An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Construction Tutor to join a specialist Alternative Provision in Southam, Warwickshire.

This is a rewarding role for an individual with a background in construction who is passionate about developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople. Working with secondary-aged students in a small-group setting, you will deliver engaging, practical lessons that help young people develop vocational skills, gain recognised qualifications and build confidence for future employment, apprenticeships or further education.

Whether you are an experienced tutor or a construction professional looking to transition into education, this role offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact while enjoying a structured, term-time working environment.

You will plan and deliver high-quality vocational construction lessons to students aged 11–16, many of whom benefit from a more personalised approach to learning. Through practical, hands-on teaching, you will engage learners, develop their technical knowledge and support them in achieving positive educational outcomes.

Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will create a safe, inclusive learning environment where students are encouraged to succeed both academically and personally.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging practical and theory-based construction lessons.
  • Teach industry-standard working practices, health and safety, and the correct use of tools and equipment.
  • Prepare students for vocational qualifications and future employment pathways.
  • Plan lessons that meet individual learning needs and promote student progress.
  • Assess, monitor and record learner achievement.
  • Maintain a safe, organised and compliant workshop environment.
  • Build positive relationships that encourage engagement, attendance and positive behaviour.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching, pastoral and leadership teams to support student development.
The successful candidate will have:
  • A strong background within the construction industry.
  • A recognised qualification in Construction or a relevant trade.
  • Experience delivering training, mentoring or teaching, or a genuine interest in moving into education.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to motivate and engage young people from a range of backgrounds.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
A teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent) is desirable but not essential. Applications are welcomed from experienced construction professionals looking to begin a career in education.
