Smile Education’s Leadership division are currently representing an East Midlands based group of alternative provisions in their journey of growth. We are currently seeking an experienced School Leader to appoint on a permanent basis for a brand-new school opening in Hinkley (LE10 1RE) in February 2020. All applications are being handled exclusively by Smile Education’s Leadership division and a tour of the setting can be arranged and is encouraged prior to formal interviews. On a whole the settings offer one to one, small group and vocational courses delivered across a range of hubs in the East Midlands. The new school will cater for local, secondary aged pupils. Typically, class sizes range from 10-12, with around 50 pupils on whole school role. They take a holistic and precise approach to their learners’ needs. Building a team around each child in their care, they work collaboratively with each stakeholder to effect change. Each programme is evaluated for impact and managed against the specification agreed with the commissioning body. They have developed many leading edge systems and processes for working with children and young people across a wide range of facilities and community venues.
For this job, the group wish to appoint a school experienced candidate who is able to hit the ground running in a period of rapid growth. Successful applicants must have recent senior leadership experience within an alternative provision or secondary school setting, although candidates with considerable SEN experience in a mainstream school or alternative SEN setting will also be considered. Aspiring Assistant Headteachers who wish to take the next step are also encouraged to apply.

Leadership experience within either an alternative provision or secondary school
Experienced working with pupils with SEMH or behavioural needs
Able to communicate effectively and build relationships with staff, pupils and parents
Committed to developing a positive, enthusiastic learning culture for all staff
Resilient and emotionally intelligent
