Smile Education is recruiting enthusiastic and motivated Graduate Trainee Teachers to support welcoming primary schools across Hyde and Whitby. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience before progressing onto a PGCE, SCITT, School Direct or another teacher training route.
You will work alongside experienced teaching professionals, developing your classroom confidence while making a positive impact on pupils' learning.
The RoleAs a Graduate Trainee Teacher, you will support learning across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 by supervising classes using pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Supervising classes using work prepared by the class teacher.
  • Supporting pupils with their learning and encouraging engagement.
  • Maintaining a positive, safe and productive classroom environment.
  • Managing behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Supporting pupils of all abilities, including those with SEND where required.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Providing feedback to teaching staff following lessons.
  • Adapting confidently to different year groups and classroom environments.
  • Following safeguarding procedures at all times.
You will not be expected to plan lessons or undertake the responsibilities of a qualified teacher.
RequirementsThe successful candidate will:
  • Hold a UK degree (or equivalent).
  • Have a genuine interest in pursuing a career in primary education.
  • Be confident communicating with children and school staff.
  • Be professional, reliable, enthusiastic and adaptable.
  • Have experience working with children through tutoring, coaching, youth work, volunteering or similar (desirable but not essential).
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
Pay and Benefits
