About the Role Smile Education is recruiting a motivated and enthusiastic
Graduate Teaching Assistant to support a welcoming and well-established
secondary school in Oldham. This long-term, full-time role is ideal for
recent graduates who are considering a future career in
teaching, education, psychology, or youth work and are looking to gain hands-on classroom experience.
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and students across
Key Stages 3 and 4, providing in-class support, assisting with interventions, and helping pupils to engage, progress, and build confidence in their learning.
This role is an excellent stepping stone into
teacher training routes such as PGCE, Schools Direct, or salaried teacher training programmes.
Role Responsibilities- Support teachers in the classroom across KS3 and KS4
- Work with individual pupils and small groups to support learning and progress
- Assist students with understanding tasks and staying engaged in lessons
- Provide targeted support for pupils with SEND, EAL, or additional learning needs
- Help manage classroom behaviour and promote positive learning attitudes
- Support intervention sessions and catch-up programmes
- Build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Support the wider school team as required
You’ll Need- A degree in any subject (essential)
- A genuine interest in education and working with young people
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, proactive, and supportive approach
- The ability to build positive relationships and support behaviour management
- An enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
