Smile Education is recruiting on behalf of a large and well-established SEND secondary school based in Wolverhampton. Due to continued growth and expansion, the school is seeking dedicated, enthusiastic, and energetic Teaching Assistants to join its team and make a positive contribution to the lives of young people with additional needs.

This forward-thinking specialist provision caters for secondary-aged pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The Role as a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide both academic and pastoral support to students with a range of additional needs. You will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and achieve positive outcomes.

The role may involve:

• Supporting students within the classroom on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
• Assisting with the delivery of tailored learning activities
• Promoting positive behaviour and engagement
• Supporting students with social, emotional, and communication needs
• Assisting pupils with complex behavioural and medical needs where required
• Working collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
• Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

We Are Looking For Teaching Assistants Who:

• Have experience working with or caring for children and young people with additional needs
• Have an understanding of SEND and the barriers some students face in education
• Can support pupils with complex behavioural and medical needs
• Demonstrate empathy, patience, and resilience
• Are committed to meeting the individual needs of students
• Can build positive and respectful relationships with young people
• Work effectively as part of a team whilst also using their own initiative
• Are passionate about supporting students to achieve their potential

Essential Requirements

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND, either professionally or in a care-based setting
• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Childcare qualification is desirable
• A minimum of two professional references covering the last two years
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Smile Education
• The right to work in the UK
