Smile Education is currently working in partnership with a welcoming and forward‑thinking secondary school in Oldham to recruit confident and reliable Cover Supervisors for supply work.

This role is ideal for individuals seeking flexible, day‑to‑day or short‑term supply opportunities, whether you are available one day per week or full‑time. Supply work offers valuable classroom experience within a supportive school environment that puts pupils first and values professionalism, confidence, and consistency.

Role Overview As a Supply Cover Supervisor, you will supervise pre‑set lessons across KS3 and KS4 during short‑term teacher absences. You will help maintain continuity of learning, ensuring students remain engaged, on task, and working productively throughout the school day.

Bookings may range from single‑day cover to short blocks, depending on school requirements and your availability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise pre‑planned lessons in the absence of teaching staff
  • Maintain a calm, positive, and structured learning environment
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Ensure students stay focused and complete set work
  • Support pupils of varying abilities, including SEND where required
  • Promote a respectful and inclusive classroom culture
  • Provide brief feedback to school staff where appropriate
  • Uphold safeguarding standards and the school’s ethos at all times
Requirements The successful candidate will:
  • Have recent experience working with children or young people
  • Be punctual, professional, and confident
  • Feel comfortable leading groups of secondary‑aged students
  • Demonstrate strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • Be adaptable, resilient, and proactive
  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS (or be willing to obtain one)
Experience in schools, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, youth work, or similar roles is highly suitable for supply Cover Supervisor work.
Pay & Benefits
