confident and motivated Sports Coach / Cover Supervisor to support a secondary school in
Oldham. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in
sports coaching, physical education, youth work, or education to work within a supportive and well‑structured school environment.
Role OverviewIn this varied and rewarding role, you will work across the school day
supervising lessons during teacher absence, supporting
PE lessons, and promoting positive behaviour and engagement. You will use pre‑planned cover work and ensure pupils remain on task in line with school expectations.
Depending on the placement, you may also support
sports activities, enrichment sessions, and extracurricular opportunities.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise classes during teacher absence using pre‑prepared lesson materials
- Deliver cover across a range of core subjects, with a focus on PE lessons
- Support sports activities, fixtures, and enrichment sessions where required
- Promote positive behaviour in line with school policies
- Build strong, professional relationships with students and staff
- Maintain a calm, confident, and professional presence throughout the school day
- Support the wider school team and uphold school standards
RequirementsThe successful candidate will:
- Have experience in sports coaching, PE, education, youth work, or a similar field
- Be confident working with secondary‑aged pupils (11–16)
- Demonstrate strong communication and behaviour‑management skills
- Be reliable, adaptable, and professional in presentation
- Have a genuine interest in sport, physical activity, and pupil wellbeing
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one)
Previous experience as a
Cover Supervisor or within a school setting is desirable but not essential, as training and ongoing support will be provided.
