Secondary School Cover Supervior

Smile Education are currently recruiting experienced Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across Greater Manchester between now and the end of the academic year.
This is a busy period for schools, with increased demand for classroom cover alongside sports days, school trips, transition activities, enrichment sessions, reward events and other end-of-term commitments. Schools require confident and reliable staff who can provide consistent support both inside and outside the classroom.
The role is suitable for experienced Cover Supervisors who can quickly adapt to different school environments, maintain high standards of behaviour and represent the school professionally during off-site activities.
Candidates who perform strongly and demonstrate reliability, professionalism and effective behaviour management may also be offered ongoing work when the new academic year begins.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise pre-planned lessons across a range of secondary subjects.
  • Maintain a structured and productive classroom environment.
  • Ensure pupils remain focused and complete the work provided.
  • Manage behaviour confidently in line with school policies.
  • Support sports days, school trips, enrichment activities and school events.
  • Supervise pupils safely during practical activities and movement around the school.
  • Represent the school professionally when supporting off-site visits.
  • Set clear expectations for conduct in public and respond appropriately to poor behaviour.
  • Support transition days, assemblies, reward activities and wider school events where required.
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff following lessons or activities.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and uphold the standards of each school.

Requirements
The successful candidate will:
  • Have recent experience working as a Cover Supervisor within a secondary school.
  • Be confident supervising pupils across KS3 and KS4.
  • Demonstrate strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Be able to maintain clear boundaries during lessons, trips and recreational activities.
  • Be professional, punctual, reliable and adaptable.
  • Communicate confidently with pupils, teaching staff and members of the public.
  • Be comfortable supporting activities both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Be available for short-term, flexible or block bookings.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.

Pay & Benefits
  • £100–£130 per day, dependent on experience and placement responsibilities.
