Smile Education are currently recruiting experienced Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across Oldham.
This role is only suitable for candidates who have direct Cover Supervisor experience within a secondary school. Schools are looking for confident, reliable staff who can supervise whole classes, manage behaviour effectively and keep pupils focused when the usual class teacher is absent.
Opportunities are available now, as well as from September for the new academic year. Subject specialism is not important for this role; proven classroom experience, strong behaviour management and reliability are the key requirements.
Role OverviewAs a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise pre-planned lessons across KS3 and KS4. You will set clear expectations, keep pupils on task and ensure work is completed.
Strong behaviour management is essential. Schools need Cover Supervisors who can maintain a calm, structured classroom, follow behaviour policies consistently and respond to disruption before it affects learning.
You will also complete registers, follow school systems, provide feedback to teaching staff and liaise with pastoral teams where required.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise pre-planned lessons across a range of secondary subjects.
- Maintain a focused, structured and productive classroom environment.
- Set clear expectations for behaviour and work completion.
- Manage behaviour confidently in line with school policies.
- Keep pupils on task and respond professionally to disruption.
- Adapt quickly to different schools, year groups and routines.
- Follow lesson instructions and resources left by teaching staff.
- Complete registers and provide feedback on behaviour, engagement and work completed.
- Support pupils of varying abilities, including SEND where required.
- Uphold safeguarding procedures and school expectations at all times.
Requirements- The successful candidate must have recent relevant experience within a secondary school.
- You must be confident supervising whole classes across KS3 and KS4.
- Strong classroom presence and behaviour management are essential.
- You must be reliable, punctual, professional and adaptable.
- You should be comfortable covering different subjects using pre-prepared work.
- Experience using school systems such as Bromcom is desirable.
- You must be available for immediate, short-term, block or September placements.
- You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
- You must have the right to work in the UK.
Pay and Benefits- £100–£130 per day, dependent on experience and placement responsibilities.
