Smile Education are currently recruiting for confident and adaptable Cover Supervisors to work across secondary schools in Shrewsbury and the surrounding areas.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to gain experience within secondary education. The role would suit an experienced Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, aspiring teacher or anyone with previous experience working with children and young people.
The RoleAs a Cover Supervisor, you will support secondary schools by supervising classes during teacher absences. You will deliver pre-prepared work, maintain a positive classroom environment and ensure students remain focused and engaged with their learning.
We offer flexible opportunities for those looking for full-time work, several days a week or occasional cover. We'll work around your availability to help you find roles that suit your circumstances.
Key Responsibilities

• Supervise classes and deliver pre-prepared lessons.
• Maintain a calm, positive and purposeful classroom environment.
• Manage behaviour effectively and maintain high expectations.
• Support students with their learning and keep them on task.
• Follow school policies and procedures.
• Adapt confidently to different schools, subjects and year groups.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience working with children or young people.
• Confidence managing a classroom and maintaining expectations.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• The ability to work across different subjects and year groups.
• A reliable, flexible and adaptable approach.
• A genuine interest in supporting young people and their education.
