Cover Supervisor – Secondary Schools Birmingham & Greater Birmingham Areas
£95–£110 per day | Full-time long-term (part-time available)
Smile Education is recruiting Cover Supervisors to work across Secondary school settings in Birmingham and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity to gain classroom experience in supportive and inclusive schools while ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of teaching staff.
Role Overview As a Cover Supervisor, you will deliver pre-set lessons and manage classrooms across KS3 and KS4 in the absence of the class teacher. You will ensure students remain engaged, on task, and focused on their learning.
The role may also involve supporting students with additional needs, including:
• Autism (ASC)
• ADHD
• SEMH
• Mental health needs
• Behavioural challenges
• Speech and language needs
Key Responsibilities • Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of secondary subjects
• Maintain a positive, focused, and productive classroom environment
• Manage behaviour effectively in line with school policies
• Ensure students complete the work set by teaching staff
• Provide clear feedback to teachers on student progress and behaviour
• Support students with additional learning needs where required
• Promote a respectful and inclusive learning environment
Requirements • Previous experience working in a school or with young people (essential)
• Degree or relevant qualification (preferred)
• Strong behaviour management and classroom control skills
• Confident leading classes independently across KS3 and KS4
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Adaptable, resilient, and proactive approach
• Experience with SEND or SEMH needs is advantageous
