Cover Supervisor – Secondary School
Smile Education are currently recruiting for a Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in the Cannock area.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervising classes in the absence of the usual classroom teacher and ensuring students remain engaged with the work provided.
  • Delivering pre-prepared lessons and following lesson plans and instructions effectively.
  • Maintaining a calm, positive and purposeful learning environment.
  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with the school's policies and expectations.
  • Supporting students with their learning and encouraging positive attitudes towards education.
  • Ensuring students complete assigned tasks and remain focused throughout the lesson.
  • Providing feedback to teaching staff regarding student engagement, behaviour and work completed.
  • Supporting students with additional needs where appropriate and ensuring an inclusive learning environment.
  • Building positive and professional relationships with students and staff.
  • Carrying out general duties associated with the smooth running of the school day when required.
The School Are Looking For
  • Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a secondary school environment.
  • Experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar role is desirable.
  • A confident, calm and professional presence in the classroom.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to manage behaviour effectively and maintain high expectations.
  • The confidence to supervise classes across a range of subjects and year groups.
  • Flexibility, reliability and a positive approach to working as part of a school team.
  • A genuine commitment to supporting students' learning, development and wellbeing.
  • An understanding of the importance of creating a caring, inclusive and positive learning environment.
