Are you a humanities graduate looking for an opportunity to support the education of young people? 
 
Smile Education, Northwest is currently recruiting for a full-time Humanities Teacher for a secondary school based in Oldham and the nearby areas in Ashton-Under-Lyne, Longsight, Westwood, Featherstall and Derker.
 
We accept any humanities degree graduates, e.g., Geography, History, Politics, Philosophy, Literature, Creative Writing, Modern Languages.

About the school:

What does the role involve?
  • Use a variety of teaching techniques such as whole class lessons, discussions, individual or group projects and field trips
  • Use a range of materials including textbooks, worksheets, computers, and interactive whiteboards
  • Organising and directing the whole class and helping individual pupils as required
  • Setting assignments, projects, tests, and exams, preparing, and carrying out continuous assessments, marking pupils’ work and writing reports
  • Keeping good order in the classroom and dealing with discipline issues
  • Doing administrative work, including keeping a register of pupils
  • Preparing for, and attending parent-teacher meetings and staff meetings
  • Sometimes supervising out-of-hours activities such as visits, field trips or social events
  • Meet regularly with other departments to plan interdisciplinary projects.

What do you need?
 
  • Any Undergraduate degree in Humanities (e.g., Geography, History, Politics, Philosophy, Literature, Creative Writing, Modern Languages)
  • A valid QTS/PGCE (preferred) 
  • An enhanced DBS registered to the update service (If you do not hold this, we can arrange for you at £44, which is refundable once you have completed ten days in your new role.)
  • Knowledge of the UK Secondary Curriculum
  • Able and willing to travel to the area
  • 2 education-based references
  • A passion for teaching/supporting.
  • Good approach to behaviour management
  • A determined, hard-working attitude
 
Immediate start is available.
The school can offer you security with the role as it is a long-term position for at least 1 academic year.
